What is M-Learning?

Dr. AlexzanderDye defines it as "M-learning is a kind of learning that can be carried out at any time at any time with the help of mobile computing devices. Mobile computing devices used in M-learning must be able to effectively present learning content and provide two-way communication between teachers and learners."

Mobile learning is an informal learning model, which relies on wireless communication and streaming media technology, integrates fine talent management theory, presents targeted learning contents through smartphones effectively, and provides ways of communication for different roles.

There may be two misunderstandings for the mobile learning platform

Misunderstanding 1: Mobile learning is "mobility" learning
The supporters of this view believe that mobile learning is an individual learning activity that can be carried out in a free mobile environment. This view is actually a variant of the offline E-Learning model, which can also be realized by E-Learning, so "mobility" is not the greatest advantage of mobile learning.

From D-Learning to E-Learning to M-Learning, the greatest breakthrough in mobile learning is not the region mobility but the consciousness mobility, that is to say, the occurrence of M-Learning should be beyond the individual plan, it should be a learning behavior inspired by the changes in the environment or thinking activity, only then high efficiency can be achieved.

Misunderstanding 2: Mobile learning is browsing learning contents anytime and anywhere with wireless terminals
This view looks suitable for describing M-Learning, but it ignores the passivity of learning contents. As mentioned above, the advantage of M-Learning is the freedom of the learners’ learning awareness. In fact, the occurrence of learning behavior, especially in the informal environment, is mostly from bottom to top and from inside to outside. This learning behavior requires more human-computer interaction and greater interaction space for learners, rather than the push of a simple learning content initiated by the training organization.
